When I moved from home for the first time in 1978, I rented an apartment in Sacramento. I responded to a radio public service announcement asking for volunteers for the "Match-2" program, which arranged visits between citizens and inmates who did not have any visitors and who signed up to participate.
I was introduced to a teenager at Preston School of Industry named Daniel. He was not stationed at the castle (which was closed back in 1960) but in a newer modern facility. When he was released, I received a card with his address, but we soon lost contact. The "castle" holds quite a history:
