I do not think oven clean is a good idea on plastic.
I would worry even about brake clean.
I use an adhesive remover like Goof Off available at
any hardware store and a lot of elbow grease.
I would research out any strong stuff before use.
I wonder what everyone else thinks = I am always on
careful side.

That is what everyone says to use. Brake fluid,not brake cleaner, and the yellow top oven cleaner. Elbow grease and 40 year old plastic don’t mix well, I need something to strip the plastic.

Be careful......I do not have any more of them!
Let us know how the brake fluid works?
It certainly eats paint off Sheetmetal = Do not
ask me why I know that.

The PO butchered the throttle/kickdown bracket for whatever reason. I smoothed it out, added a hole for the lokar kickdown and painted it. Then I went to the hardware store to come up with a replacement bracket for the lokar cable. I hope it all works!

I had a terrible time getting the motor to sit correctly with the Schumacher motor mounts.

I finally figured out it is because the template that they provide with the instructions is undersized. I had to redrill the holes and I will have to notch/cut the kmember again. Very frustrating, but fixable.

I should have test fit the motor and headers before painting everything, but you live and learn.

At this point I need to ding the headers in a few spots, and then I can add the gaskets and consider them installed.

I feel like this is the hardest part of the build, and I’m just doing 1 thing at a time and trying to not let the roadblocks frustrate me.

Feeling closer than ever!

Least it is clean now going together Im over the mess and enjoying the clean stuff!
 
Not feeling like pulling the motor and denting headers, so I’d rather clean parts in the rain! My work was tossing this uhaul sign, so I’m going to strip the paint off of it and use it to make block off plates for the heater blower motor and maybe the dash.

Finishing up the last of the blue to black conversion on the interior. Just need to do the rear arm rest and I am going to attempt to do the dash pad. It’s not in horrible shape, but it has a few cracks. I’m going to see if painting it black makes it look decent.

SEM trim black. It’s my favorite spray paint product ever. It has a nice heavy spray pattern, and it levels itself out so it’s hard to make it run. I used duplicolor adhesion promoter as a base. I’ve even used it on a few under hood items, hoping it holds up.
 
Finally settled on rear wheels after seeing a Demon with the same wheels. 15x8 with 4” bs and M/T 235/60r15 drag radials. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I they fit my vision for the car perfectly.

With the factory 7 1/4, and stock leafs,I would definitely want to roll the fenders. It’s a 16th from the lip on the drivers side and damn near touching on the passenger side.

I am going to use the 8 1/4, which is slightly narrower than the 7 1/4, and I’ll be running Super Stock springs. I believe with that combo alone, I would clear the fender no problem.

I’m happy with the results. I plan to cut the wheel wells like a Super Stock Dart, and the wheel is right where I want it. Should have a nice full/stuffed look with a 275/60R15.

Tore the 8 1/4 down tonight. Just need to remove the bearing races, and replace the seals. I’m going to clean up the rough spots on the housing and then paint it.

I didn’t submerge it completely. I used 1 small container of brake fluid,a trash bag and blue paper shop towels soaked in the brake fluid.

I was able to scrub the plastic with a scotchbrite with no marring after soaking.
