Is it possible to pull an engine from a van at a pick-a-part wrecking yard? I believe they only have large gantry-type engine cranes. Seems like it'd be a total PITA.

I think it will depend on how much they allow you to cut up the van......the more you cut the easier it is to get to and remove. If they let you cut the van in half the motor will fall out??? I've been to scrap yards where they let you borrow their torch to cut all you want on some car models. Treblig

sure bring this and go nuts!!

yep, my cousin and I pulled one out of an 84 van at the lol Pull A part marathon they had a couple years back, take the grille and radiator support off, unhook the mounts, crank her up a few inches and yank her forward until free.

What year van? Early vans are easy, 71’ and later not so much.

I pulled a 350 out of an old g10 van about 15 years ago without a hoist. Pulled the grille, rad and anything else in front of the engine. Wedge a solid plank of wood between front of engine and top of bumper. Unhooked everything and used straps an pry bars to slide it out the front. Backed up my pickup, rolled engine straight into the bed. Was a good workout and I was cursing at some points but it can be done.

I see this all the time over at the Sunrise, Pick-N-Pull where they Sawsall the left and right frame rails towards the back, and then let everything just drop down to the ground.
Pretty cool the way they are getting it done, and the engine out of the junkers.
There was a van just like that, last week, when i was over there, pulling some brake parts.
