so in my valiant I have the spool mount style kframe and the 318 has blown so im putting in the 360 are the motor mounts the same ? and I didn't need it with the 318 but will I need a drop center link for the center sump oil pan on the 360 ?

I read that the center sump was for cars so assumed that's the one I need but they wernt putting it in a early A...........I looked up the engine its a 71-74 360 la block 3418496.4.360 if anyone cares to tell me what is special about this casting?

This is LA and not Magnum right? You'll need a different pan, 360LA is different (rear) than the other SB engines

nothing special about that casting number

also the motor mount for one side is different between the 318 and 340/360

what year car is this going in?

So long as you have a passenger car sump on your 360 you should be fine. An unmodified 73 K-member should accommodate 360 sumps just fine. I can only assume you are using the 73 steering linkage. There were no "drop down" center links in 73. After 67 they were all the same regardless of engine.

A K member from a 73 dart? Didn't know that was possible.

I believe all early a's you will need the drop down center link from a V8 car, but if you had a 318 in it before and everything cleared, you should be fine. There is the issue about the motor mount on one side that was already mentioned, but I believe that is it.

The ears on the block to mount the motor mounts are different on the left side from 273/318 to the 340/360. You will have to get a 340/360 mount for the left side. The right side mount will bolt up on all sb engines.

srry not sure bout the k member year I just know it has the spool mounts owner told me that it had the 73 up mounts not sure if that's true

Yes and no. Apparently all 1966 A's had the 'drop down' AKA 'V8' style center link.

I have never read of someone putting a 67+ K-member in a 63-66 car. I hope you know that 67+ cars are wider. Even if you drill holes to bolt it up, I suspect you would have many problems with the steering linkages, plus the suspension probably wouldn't work since the T-bar holes would be too far out, as would the lower ball joint, spindle would then be leaning in, tires would hit the fenders, ....

This is true, but good luck with the 360/340 mount. They are no longer produced, just the 318 mounts. Fortunately, all you need is a small spacer to make the 318 mount work on a 340/360.
