I installed new clevite hyd lifters on an old cam. In the 20 minute process, saw temp rising, shut it off.
So, the SFI balancer puts the pulley out further- 1/2" from the water pump; 3/8" out from the alt.
Will double groove pulleys get me close? Or all custom now? 70 340.

And the alt, with new voltage regulator, shows 18v on my new auto meter gauge. Battery in trunk; ampmeter bypassed, pulled one field wire off- the same overcharge.

Every step forward is 2 steps back.

And in trying to break in the cam, I swear it is only hitting on seven; hard to tell at 2000 rpm, and new dynomax.

To balancer probably goes with the later model aluminum sb water punp. It changes to position of everything. I dont know what charging system you have. I do know the voltage regulators need to be installed and chassis grounded before connecting to the harness. You may have killed it.
Good luck

I need to move the waterpump forward 1/2". Anyone have a measurement on a 2 groove pully? 1 groove is 3" from flange.

What year car is the 340 in? The 70 on up 340s had different water pump pullys than the 68-69 340s due to the change in design of the water pump.
