purple shaft

Picked up a /6 that was rebuilt about 7 yrs ago but never run, It has a purple shaft but the seller didn't remember the specks, only that it was one of the middle cams in the direct connection catalog...nothing to radical. I want to take this engine apart,check and clean everything and put it back together but i would need the specs to reinstall it, correct? Never built an engine so I am only assuming. Did these cams have a part number on them? Also there are no lifters or rocker assembly. The head he said was milled 30thousands...I will have a machinist go through everything, but is that enough for a "middle" cam? The seller said it had 9:1 compression, is this possible? I'm trying to give as much as I know,this is new to me.
