I have a 1976 318.

I have a set of 2000 Magnum heads (and exhausts).

I have a set of AMC style lifters.

What length pushrods do I need? Stock LA?

Assuming stock bore, how much compression increase will the Mag heads give me?

This could be a home for my 272/454 cam, and the 1.6 rockers should make it closer to 484 lift.

Does this sound more sane than the last plan?

check Comp Cams but I believe the length is 7.625".could also check Mopar Muscle on line and look for a conversion article.and no,they are not stock LA because they are hollow, drilled at both ends to oil the valvetrain.

Oh, yea, forgot that they can't be stock because of that.

thanks.

Found MP P5007477

the only way to know for sure is to obtain a pushrod checking tool and measure that sucker.

As I understand it... Every cam grind which has different lobe lift to the next, therefore has a different base circle and hence different required length for the pushrod. milled heads? different again!

If i recall correctly, hughes loans out their checking tool and sends out your pushrods when they get their tool back. but they aren't the most competitively priced shop by a good stretch either.

Maybe check the trading forum/mopar related facebook groups? There might be a good Samaritan in your area who has a checking tool and is willing to help you out, especially if you have a cold beer or two waiting? It's a mopar world!

Thanks guys.

I have several complete running engines and a boat load of parts laying around.

I'm trying to figure which parts are going to work best together without spending a pile of cash.

What Frosty said buy or make a checking pushrod & measure the length you need to get the preload you want. i used the MP ones (7477 ?) for the conversion (reportedly NS1) & they are too long (I have too much preload) but I am going to go with them at the moment but this is a high RPM circle track eng so pending further advice i may have to change them
