any of you guys have trouble getting QA1 stocker stars on the rear? with the top mount facing the front of the car and the bottom mount facing the rear its a pain. I've let the car all the way down off the lift to let the rear housing rotate forward and it still doesn't give me enough to get the bottom of the shock over the bottom stud.

what is the extended length on the shocks and what springs are you using?

Got mine on no problem (tight fit) but you could unbolt the shock plate. Hopefully your u-bolts aren't too crusty.

generally what I did was cut off the bottom stud and weld it back on 90* from where it was.

lol, bob i actually thought of that laying in bed last night. Have to see if my back brace on the housing will allow it when i get home.

Well....this is a round about reason to do this but.....If you get Caltracs it will solve this problem. Their shock plate uses a large bolt that you push through from the back, problem solved....for only $330 :-D.

Make sure you have plenty of room around the rear brace. My first pass on my QA1's I bent them because they hit the brace when the car seperated and had to press them straight.

yeah, i notched and reboxed the brace for clearence. I saw that coming when I put them on without the bushing just to see if it would be tight. should be good now.

got the shocks on without having to modify anything. a little vaseline on the studs and bushings followed by a hell of a fight to get the bottom eye on.

once they are seated all of the way at the back of the studs they are ok. its a hell of a fight to get it there though, lol.

Good stuff! My housing is braced on the back and bottom with mild steel tubing. I even notched it and it crunched shocks. Mount them with the aluminum body up high if you haven't already ;)
