did all 67 barracudas have chrome window trim around windsheild and back window?? and how was it installed ?? clips??:la:

As a matter of fact, NO 67 Cuda had chrome trim around the front or rear window. It wasn't until 68 when they had the chrome trim, which was held on with clips mounted to the body frame around the window opening and somewhat hidden by the window gasket. In 67, the window was put into a gasket and an expansion strip was inserted into a track in the gasket to expand it and help keep the window in. Thsi method was also used on 66 and earlier cars!!

Now the hot ticket is to strip the windows and gaskets from 67 cars and install the clips, then use a 68 and up gasket and the chrome trim. Voila, instant bling!!!

Hope this helps, Geof

Fact is none of them had chrome. The lock insert for the 67 gasket and was plastic simulated chrome.
68 and later had stainless reveal mouldings covering a different gasket.

thanxs guys how hard is it to find the simulated plastic chrome for the 67??

there are some that will work, (someone will chime in here) the factory stuff is unobtainium and when found very expensive. If you in the mist of a repaint the 68-9 trim is an option to convert to. front glass reveal moldings are common the rear a bit rarer but accessible. When converting the factory lines around the back glass is (lower corners) aren't the best so might need to do a little fitting and filling to get the reveal molding to fit perfectly.

the car currently pretty much stripped to bare metal windows out but had to do bunch of welding around bottom of back window cause of stupied vinyl roof would never put a vinyl rust maker on anything! so with all the fixing we did arounf back window 68 clip on chrome might not fit just right anyway??:violent1:

if you did the work right it may be fine. The difference is the window gasket on the 67 didn't fit tight against the corner of the window channel and the lock strip went in the middle of the gasket not the side. So perfect body lines was not a big deal in this area. In 68-9 the reveal molding fit against the channel so fit and finish was much better. The 67 window gaskets are not easy to find either. I converted mine to the 68-9's.

AMEN ! The body panel joins were once finished with lead which was very quick and easy to work. The lead was burning and killing the workers. Bondo slowed the finishing process if it was to look right. A layer of vinyl glued over it would hide inperfections. And now you know why vinyl tops came along when they did.
