Hi, I have a question regarding the two orange hoses in the attached pictures on my 273 2 barrel 67 Barracuda.

The first one is an older picture of my car and the two orange hoses looks like a normal setup that I have seen on other cars along with my previous 67 barracuda.
The second picture is the current connection, which has one orange hose going to both inlet/outlet connections on the firewall, and a shorter orange hose from I think the water pump to the engine.

Does anyone know why a previous owner would change the hose connections like this, or if it is okay?

I was going to buy two new hoses and reconnect a hose to the inlet and one to the outlet on the firewall, but wanted to see if anyone has any insight into this.

Thanks in advance for any info.
Shane

Yup. It's got a bad heater core, so they bypassed it.

Either that or it was used in a hot climate, they never used the heater and wanted to keep all the heat they could out of the pass compartment.

By the length of the hoses it looks the hoses were cut and designed to connect and disconnect the heater core. I would say the heater box blend door didn't work or the cable was broke. So this is the way they shut off the heat into the car.

. Or the heater core was leaking and they disconnected it . The way it was done it could be hooked back up without buying new hoses after core replacement. You could not have done this on a 70 or newer car the hoses are different sizes.

Thanks everyone for the replies. The previous owner was in AZ so maybe that is why they changed it. I don't plan on ever using heat as I live in southern California, but will have the heater core looked at.

Thanks again, Shane

I had a car that I didn't need the heat and the core leaked. I plugged the hoses at the core and put them on to give it the factory look.
