Hi I'm wondering if you guys think I could run the stronger mopar performance stamped rocker arms on the lunati 60405 cam. The springs I got are 333lbs at open pressure and are 1.850 installed height. I thought I may have to go adjustable rockers but thought I'd see what you guys think

I wouldn't be comfortable with it, but I tend to be over-cautious anyway. Besides, some of the benefits of going with more cam and spring pressure will be lost because you won't be able to accurately and optimally adjust the preload the same amount on all the valves.

Oh right very true I wouldn't get full advantage of that cam. Good point

I'd grab some new adjustable rocker arms.

I think it's a poor idea for a couple reasons:
1. Stamped rockers flex. If they hold together it will reduce the rpm potential of the cam. I used to use the MP rockers a bit. Years ago they were visibly thicker in cross section and in the pushrod cup from a stock type rocker. They kept the advertising hype but I haven't seen that "thicker" difference in years - the last set being in 2008. That's why I stopped using them and go with sintered iron as a starting level if I need rockers.
2. Any hydraulic lifter will work best with the proper preload. Preload is a function of the correct pushrod length and the rocker. It's much harder to maintain proper preload with a flexing stamped rocker.

What kind of roller rockers would you suggest? I thought about the factory 273 rockers but I'm still thinkin

Oh okay good point I'd like to get as much as I can out of this cam so I won't waste my time with the stamped rocker arms

I'm interested in this as well. What is a decent entry level upgrade over stock that is a good mix of quality vs. cost?

The last set I used were Isky, with Mancini thickwall shafts. I think they were in the $400 range "as installed" but IMO they needed a little cleaning and touch up. A set of 273 rockers is a good cheap alternative and I think would be fine int this application. Just clean them really good and run a good shaft. You can probably get out under $300 that way. There are other options - I stay far away from the really cheap ones.

Okay cool deal. I'd really like to find the crane rocker arms. Pretty much the same as the old style 273 rockers with some machining differences

Yup - I'd prefer Cranes over Isky but at the time they were out of business. Looking at prices - The cranes are $500 now...lol.

Just remember that the 273 rockers were for mechanical tappets, and use different push rods for hydraulics

Geez! Yeah I think I remember seeing there prices for crane now. Kinda high lol. But where could I find Isky rocker arms? To be honest I've heard about them but that's about it.

the cranes were 450 bucks back in 1990! you go wiyh mopar and you have to have deep pockets but it sure is worth it!

No way would I try it. I had the Lunati 60404 cam in my old 360 and my springs were a little lighter than yours and while the pushrods didn't punch throuch the rockers it ate the tip of them where it scrubs accross the valve stem. Had stainless valves so they didn't give, just chewed up the rockers. Lasted about 9000 miles and they were junk and they were the Mopar perf. rockers.

Well that right there pretty much gives me the definite no on the stamped rockers. The best thing to do I guess is to do it right the first time and get good parts so you ain't gotta do it again

Ran them on my 408 for a bit till I got my new rockers they were fine cam was 555 lift and no issues wouldn't hesitate to use stock ones.itisnt the right thing to do but sometimes funds are short or things happen do it.and all us mopar guys have like 4 sets laying around the garage...lol...and if ur scared pay the hundred bucks for hd stamped rockers and don't worry about it.and have Fun. Just bring extra pushrods and rockers in case the one and a million time the pushrods shoots thru it...

You start getting over 300 pounds over the nose and stamped steel rockers are on borrowed time.

Find a set of 273 rockers and get pushrods, good to go. I ran those with the mopar 590 & 620 cam back in the stone ages.
