What do you all run for motor oil brand and weight just getting ready to fire for the first time in the car. I'm running 474" 13/1 on e85. Thanks

Brad Penn has a 30w breakin oil. Then after that I run Brad Penn whatever weight you want to run. Kinda depends on what type of cam are running.

Castrol 20/50 always have had results. I run a Solid cam.

I have Valvoline 10w 30 in my engine now. It's the race oil with the zinc still inside.

We used to run valvoline in our circle track race motors. When we wold run a race we started with 65 lbs oil pressure, by the end of the race we were around 25 to 30. We started running Brad Penn and started with the 65 and at the end of a race never really ever dropped below 40. So the oil doesn't break down under the heat as bad. So I say Brad Penn.

I use Amsoil Dominator 5w-20. But Amsoil has a good variety of viscosities with high zinc content to choose from. Their 10w-30 produces more pressure, but I forgot how much. A lot has to do with bearing clearances and what your engine builder recommends.

Don't know how much of it is viscosity and how much of it is due to reduced friction (slipperiness), but changing from a straight weight mix of 30 and 40 weight conventional race oil for break-in to the 5w-20 Dominator that I run results in a very obvious higher idle rpm! I have to turn it down every time after I break the engine in and change the oil! It makes that much difference at idle, it certainly helps with wear, HP and running down the 1/4 mile.
