I have a harness in my car, I used wrap around shoulder straps, they just wrap around your shoulder bar that runs between the main hoop, then the shoulder straps just run over the bench seat back on both sides of the headrest, if you don't have a bar or a cage then I see no point in putting a racing harness in as your stock belts are perfectly legal in that situation.

I just went back to a bench seat in my Duster and love it. Yes I used wrap around harness it is a little bit of a pain as the belt slides around so I will need to secure it someway. But I really like it trick was getting the shifter to work ended up installing a tower to raise the shifter up over the seat bottom.

The angle of the harness shoulder straps to an attachment point is very critical. The straps must be level or no more than 4" below than the height of your shoulders. There is an illustration in the NHRA rule book.
