I went to replace my worn arm rests with a set of re-pops is ordered. They don't fit ! The screw doesn't even come close to touching the hole in the door frame where it is supposed to screw into. The inside of the new arm rest, where the head of the screw touches, is much thicker than the factory ones. Anybody come across this before ??

I've not used or seen them, but why can't you use a longer screw? Take the original to the hardware store and find something comparable but longer.

Wood screws would not have a pan head like the armrest base screws! The thread on an armrest screw does not have the same pitch as a wood screw either, the armrest screw is considered a sheet metal screw!!

Yes, they are sheet metal screws. Long wood screws usually have an area that is not machined under the head and are tapered.

bought these for my '70 dart and '72 scamp. I will just get longer screws, was just wondering if anyone has ran into this and maybe "trimmed" the inside of the new arm rests ..... here is a picture with some tan bases ...

As said before go to your local hardware store and purchase the longer sheet metal screws. You will have less than a dollar investment.

They are made for appearance replacement not for use in a everyday driver. They are made of plastic. so they need to be thicker. Get in and yank on one of the repops and see what happens.
