Still "Close" to starting used engine for first time... I have primed it, due to it sitting for 3 years. No oil drips on floor, but keep noticing a drop on the bottom of crank. A buddy of mine, that's a mechanic and builds classics said he wouldn't worry about it...that it would most likely seal after engine runs.. Is that possible, or was he just worried I'd ask for help replacing rear main...lol
 
Maybe a little of both. My 318 A100 always had a drop of oil at the back of th pan, I pulled pan, a simple job on A100. I could see that it was a botched oil pan end seal. Replaced and leak free. Rear main was fine.
 
If it doesn't continue to leak once it is started, then I would buy a lottery ticket....
Once the enginre is running, the oil is thinner & you have crankcase pressure trying to find a way out of the engine....
 
Get some brake cleaner and clean it off GOOD, then blow it dry with compressed air. If it comes back, find out from where and fix it.
