I blowed my air-shocks out two weeks ago on the way home from a car show and was wondering if someone may have a low cost suggestion to replacing them with something different?

The reason I am still using air-shocks is because I like the Old School look with the rear of the car being up higher then the front.

i have some truck shocks I never used, not sure if they will work. I think the bottom shock hole needs to be made a little larger. I only want 30plush shipping for both

Would you be so kind to send me a photo of them?

If they ain't air shocks, they don't hold the car up.

:cheers:took the words right out of my mouth! shocks do not provide lift, they dampen springs. adjustable coilovers will do it,but pricey.

If you are running Super Stock springs and are wanting to run the car higher in the air with the longer shocks then the Competition Engineering Drag shocks. They are longer and personally I like them alot better then any air shock I have ever seen.

I don't know anything about them but thought you might be interested.

The shocks posted in that thread I doubt will do what KP is asking for as far as replacing the air shocks....

His car is sitting "up" pretty high in the rear if I recall.

As mentioned in the post, they will raise the rear about an inch "if the rear springs are weak".

I am running these on the Demon and can tell you first hand they will raise the car......

What I found out about the o-rings for my Gabriel Hi Jackers Air Shocks is sad. I called the Gabriel Tech-Line (1-800-999-3903) and ask where I could buy replacement o-rings and found out the following. You cannot buy just the o-rings from Gabriel or anywhere, you must buy the entire air line kit, the o-ring is made an odd size therefore you cannot buy them anywhere. I ask the Gabriel tech person what if I am installing the line kit and drop one of the o-rings and cannot find it, his reply was you would have to buy another kit. I said you are telling me I have to spend $16 dollars for a .20 cent o-ring and he then replied it is what it is. This is not right!

Another reason to never use air shocks. All they do is make the spring rate go sky high. Sorta like the ricer kids that cut their springs and the cars ride like a go-kart.
SS springs or just re-arched stock springs will give you some lift without sending the spring rate thru the roof.

Go to the hardware store. They should have some thing that will work.

You might try these, I just put them on and I like the ride. I don't think it raised the ride height more then 3/4". I want to know more about the truck shocks!!!

KP..........If all you need is the o-rings, I may be able to help.

I will let you know tomorrow.

Robbie2734, Just got a new set of those coilovers today. I am replacing the ones that have been on my car for more than 10 years. I contacted Monroe and they told me they're covered under their lifetime warranty......Sweetens the deal alot!! :-D

KP, What is the od of your air shock line? I have some o-rings that are 1/8" off of a factory GM air shock setup.
