Hello,I moved rear end towards back of car 1 1/8' on 68 Dart to get tire clearance, now I need to figure how to extend upper shock mount about same towards rear to mount upper shock bolt, anyone tried this before? I changed front spring mount /hanger from 65 B-Body to move rear back, able to fit 265/75/15 tire to get look I want, thanks

I have done the same thing, moved the rear axle aft, and the only way I can see that you will be able to move the upper shock mount aft would be to cut the upper shock crossmember out of the car, along with that portion of the floor, and weld it back in where you need it. Or you can do as I am doing right now, weld in a coilover shock crossmember and mount the shocks in front of the rear axle.

On second thought, you could cut the shock crossmember out, place the spacers inside the trunk, and flip the crossmember upside down from front to back and weld it to the trunk floor from inside with the spacers lined up. I would take some pics of what I'm suggesting, but my shock crossmember that I cut out is in the detached garage and it's getting pretty cold out there.

Somebody else please chime in. I gave info for early A and the OP needs later A; '68 to be exact.

you might consider making a new 1.5 inch square tube crossmember somewhat longer than where your shocks bolt and use the old shock mounts to bolt it in..use the new upper mount to move your shock attachment point toward frame rails maybe 2 inches or so....Shocks on our cars are normally a little short anyway....
