removing axle

Whats best method of removing an axle shaft? I was just watching you tube vid where a guy used his drum backwards like a slide hammer. Any other options?

that will work...i usually get something behind the axle flange and pry it out...should come out pretty easy..

What axle are you pulling? 8 3/4? You can use the drum, it shouldn't take much to pop it out.
