I am just about to work on my gague cluster and would like to repaint it.Is there a safe paint stripper that will work on plastic.or what can I use to clean it up to repaint. The car is 69 dodge Dart.thanksssss boyssssss.Don:snakeman:

We used to use brake fluid or oven cleaner to remove paint from our model cars. You should check with a scrap part first to make sure there are no side effects.

nylon stripper brush drill attachment, similar to wire brush drill attachment but bristles are nylon with an abrasive in every strand. Does not damage just removes old finish!

No abrasivises on plastic that will be chromed Chemical strip
My soak tank is homemade and contains 6 gallons of Wesleys Bleech-White tire cleaner (recommended by the pros). Purple Power will work also.

I used enamel reducer, doesn't strip the paint but it removes all the dirt and grease from what you're painting. I did the cluster in my dart then painted it black and did all the letters in silver.

I used easy off Oven cleaner to strip my door vinyl panels worked great and did
not damage the plastic but stripped the paint.
(I thought it was a joke but it really works well)
