Have an inland shifter but the shift quality is crap. Very hard time finding reverse and overall not a smooth shift. (I did adjust the linkages btw)

The mechanism is pretty rusty - will it help to drop oil to get it loosened up? Are these inland shifters rebuildable?

If I need to replace it, can i buy a HURST shifter? Anyone have recommendations?

Thanks!

if you can still buy a hurst shifter that would be the way to go,, there is a guy, maybe some one knows on this site,, he makes shifters and linkage for every thing even A body mopars,, i have seen them but never shifted one the guy or company is called LONG ,,,thats all i know,, i dont know if a hurst shifter and linkage are still available for an A body,, gez i would hope so,, but stranger things have happened,,, check summit or jegs for the hurst,, if no luck go to brewers site,, he probably has some thing,,,

dont junk that inland,, some one wil want it for a restoration,,maybe you some tiem down the road,, good luck

fstfish,
Thanks... i looked at the LONG shifters but that's outside of my budget... I will call Brewers for their opinion - anyone else have any thoughts?

My bad....Seems like i have a HURST shifter after all...

FYI:
Can use the Hurst Comp for mopar with adapter bushings from Brewers so that i can use my existing rods. Also, the handle may need to be replaced with a straighter one.

where did you find info on the long shifter???

did you search summit or jegs for hurst stuff ???
i dont know why you think you cant use a hurst in a 64 or 65 A body ,,its the same as 66 and 65 cars came with a hurst shifter,,, i have a 66 tunnel in my car and a 65 formula S tranny,, i have a hurst super shifter with reverse lock out in my 66...
