replacing a cardboard headliner with the cloth

Is it possible to replace the later dart sport style cardboard headliner with the earlier 1970 cloth style headliner?

It should be possible if the "tabs" that hold the cloth headliner rods and the fore and aft serrated strips are in place beneath the cardboard headliner. You would otherwise have to take those parts from a doner car.

However, if cloth headliners were available options for your year car, the parts might possibly be up there already.

I believe Legendary sells a conversion kit.

1970 used these little bow pockets along the sides. Don't know how the conversion kit deals with the bows.

You could just spray glue felt to the cardboard. That is what most new cars have for headliners.

Did the old use bows? Buddy's bro tore apart a 69 Charger, we put it back together; had some plastics tabs left-no clue. Until the headliner guy glued into the sail panels; crap, that's were they went.

There's a special glue for headliners by 3M. You just spray both surfaces and then apply the material to the cardboard. Use a plastic spreader to smooth it all out and bada bing.
