I have removed the sway bar from the front of my 65 Barracuda. I have new bushings but how do you remove the old ones and put the new ones on? Mine are worn out so the slide easily, but how do you get it pass the large eye at the end?
Please help, I would like to finish the front end assemble this afternoon.
Thanks

Put some grease on that eye and it will work over the end. The old one may be hard and brittle and you have to cut it off but the new one should be pliable enough to stretch over if the shaft end is greased.

I'm assuming you ground the ears on the brackets so the bushing is free from the bracket?

Poly bushing grease, astroglide or KY...not a petroleum based lube please...:)

Thanks for the advice. I guess I'll tackle that in the morning.

I curious where you got new bushings. I have never see replacement sway bar busings for 65-66 A-bodies. The parts manual didn't list the bushings separately back in the day....I believe you had to buy a complete sway bar assembly when the bushing went belly-up.

I had a friend at Advance Auto who really went out of his way to help. Their info just says rare part but he did some research and found them. I don't know where they came from, they were shipped and came in an Advance Box. Now he has transfered to a new store out of state and the new manager goes by the book. If it says they don't have it then thats it. I miss the old manager.

Do you happen to have any part numbers from the box or receipt?
Thanks

I'll check but I think I when I finished I put it all in the trash.

I think his bar is an aftermarket version if his previous post is any indication.
