I took apart a chrome pair of these to get sand blasted and prep for paint. I was able to figure out the left side remote control gizmo and take it apart for paint prep. BIG question , has anyone disabled the remote control feature of the left mirror? If so what/how did you do?
The car these are going on had a simple manual mirror so no hole in the door for the toggle....no biggie to do this but I'd prefer to make it manual if possible.
My ideas range from just zip tying and tucking the cables and remote inside the door all the way to actually removing the cables and constructing/fashioning a way to apply the mirror/backing plate to some kind of backstop...like spray in foam that hardens etc.....
Any ideas? curious, were these Left Ralley mirrors available in manual form also?

The non remote mirror has a different ball/socket assembly with resistance like a inside rearview mirror has. Those would loose the tension and change position every time the door is closed.
What you plan to do will probably work, maybe better than a non remote mirror of the same age.
If you decide you no longer need that little piece of steel that is shown on your controller, can I have it ? :)

I don't remember ever seeing a non-remote/manual rallye mirror for the driver side
