Hi Folks,

maybe the next dumb question, but as Chrysler Engines are not so common in Germany, i´m in need of some help.

most of those who have done the Magnum swap and running bigger springs on the Magnum heads recommend to use the springs from 2.2 or 2.5 Chrysler engines.

and now we are coming to the point, where this little German Boy struggles...

is it the 2.5 SOHC which can be found in a 1999 Status or maybe anyone could tell me some more cars where these mystical retainers can be found.... so i can try to get them via local Chrysler Dealers or even via Rockauto.com

looking at a junkyard will be no option in Germany - most of the junkyards were closed and furthermore you wont find an American Vehicle there

bigger springs? what size cam? the 1999 stratus was a 2.0 or 2.4, I do not think they had more spring than a 1994+ magnum. give us more info on what u are doing

@ Marcohotrod, it's not about the springs itself. It's about the retainers.

I'm just on my way to build a mild 5.2 magnum. And when it comes to the point to upgrade springs to use a bigger cam than stock, you may als get to the point, that you will need retainers with an other diameter.

Stock magnum valvesprings are behieve springs. And most of the aftermarket springs are not.

Ive read that most guys in USA going to junkyards and pull the needed retainers there for cheap.

The tricky thing is that magnum valves have only 8mm conc the valvestem.

So it's not so easy to find matching retainers.

Conc the springs the plan is to use HUG1102 (as i can get them for cheap here)

I used hughes retainers and springs for my 5.2 magnum cam swap, they have have retainers , springs and locks in one set , they are on the internet, lots of info on cams and choosing the right parts on their site ,good luck

Thanks mickec, looks like i would also go with the complete Hughes package.

Guess it will be the easiest way to get all parts machting.
