Does anyone have any tips for installing rim screws ? Tire mounted, un mounted ?

1st, i go buy a box of those screws ( i always seem to strip a few). second, i know the thread pitch doesnt match, but i drill and tap for 1/4-20 threads (its a close match) in the holes of the wheels. i only put 5 on each side, and i line them up with the lug pattern. then, mount the tires up. then i ever so slightly run a 1/8 or 3/16" drill thruogh the hole in the rim and about a 1/4-3/8" deep into the bead of the tire. then, just turn the screws in with a 1/4" ratchet and socket.

Same here except I didn't tap the rims or drill into the tire.
If you go too far it will leak. Make sure you by good screws.
If you have alot of torque they could snap in the tire bead.
In the Jegs catalog the gold tone ones are better than the silver.
I'm a little anal on looks so I painted mine with a chrome paint with
a little artist brush once on the rims :thumrigh: .

drill them with tires dismounted....jegs or summit (i dont remember which recommends 16 screws per wheel (8 on each side ) . I use 1/8 inch sheet metal screws 1/2 inch long with the built in serrated washers on them and run them in with a drill . also I dont go straight thru the rim,I angle them slightly into the direction of rotation(against the rotation)
