So I toyed with the idea of trying to keep the old rings out of my 5.7 when I rebuild it because they are still in good shape and the bores still show a cross hatch, but since I have to get one cylinder sleeved I figured I would pretty much have to get a least one piston worth of new rings. That being said, a single set of rings from the dealer is something like $25-35. I can buy a whole set for the whole engine for $100, so it seems silly to me to get just one piston worth for that price, and the other bores, while still pretty good looking, have some minor marks in them from sitting around. One cylnder has some very light rust and the others have lines where the rings sat for a while when the heads were off, but you can't feel anything, they're just discolored. I had wanted to give them a light hone to clean them up, but if I did this I figured I'd have to go with new rings. Can anyone recommend a good brand or set? I've had some trouble tracking them down. I've found a set of Total Seal brand on Ebay, but they list for 03-05 engines and I have an 06, does that make a difference? I've also seen a set I think is for a 5.7 Hemi on Summit from Mahle, but it's not really specific what it fits, the numbers just look right (1.5 mm comp rings and 3 mm oil rings with a 3.918 bore). Any other brands out there? It's just a stock rebuild, so I'm not looking for anything real high performance. Honestly I'd probably even prefer standard fit and not file since I don't want to chance screwing up the gaps doing it myself and I don't want to drag the whole engine to a shop to have it done since I can do the rest of the assembly myself.

Just my opinion, but if you are going to put in 1 sleeve, I would bring it to a machine shop and have them hone all the cylinders to the same dimension, then replace all the rings. Have you called the dealer to price a set of rings? Mopar Performance? Good Luck...

Yeah, that's more or less what I'm planning now. I realized if I'm going to have one cylinder brand new then I might as well do the rest since I would like to clean them up anyway. Dealer prices were pretty high from what I've seen, like $30 for a ring set for one piston. I've seen full engine sets for around $100, but so far I've only seen one that specifically states it's for a 5.7 hemi, the other set I've found looks like the right sizes, but it doesn't list an application.

contact inertia motorsports. And talk with stu he can probably set you up with rings.
