I want to freshen my 340 soon. It has the 10.5 to 1 forged replacement pistons at 4.070. I cant find a file fit ring for this in a 5/64 thickness. I can find a 4.078 ring. Can I file fit the 4.078 or is this to much difference. Thanks.

I don't see any reason why you couldn't do that. I'd recommend you get a good tool for the job. Just make sure to get the rings to the proper FSM recommended gap and you should be good to go! 65'

Hastings Piston Ring Sets 2M139070

If it were a common 360/350 4" oversize you could get them for 36 bucks...but buick/340 mopar...51.99
I run hastings and perfect circle/mahle rings.
run a dingle ball through the holes.

file fit rings are usually DuCTILE
are you looking for a ductile moly top?
I would have no problem fitting .008 over rings if you can't find what you want
file fit rings are os in the first place
but you get more radial pressure
what's the profile on the rings?
you will have to do the second rings too
use a tool not a file or have lots of time and patience

Interesting.
I file every ring to where I need it.
