After reading about all of the different problems with cam issues.
I´m getting more worried about my configuration of the cam and rockers.
I´m using stock stamped steel rockers in my 383 with a Mopar Purple 284/484cam.
Have any of you guys been using the same set up.
The engine is in the car, have done the cam break in but haven´t had it on the road yet. So I figure it´s not too late.
Should I use adjustable rockers to avoid interference between the rocker arm and the valve spring?
Would it be enough to crank the engine by the hand to check for clearence?

I ran a 383 with a 484 cam for yeeeaarrsss with now problems. Stock rockers.

Are you having problems between the rockers and valve springs? Are they touching one another or something?

Thanks Mullinax, makes me feel better already.
Haven´t noticed any interference when cranking the engine manually.
However I´m not sure if things would change when running the engine at higher rpm.
The valve springs is the set that came with the cam kit from Mancini Racing.

I ran a 509 in a 383, .525 Comp cams hyd. with stock rockers both with single spring with dampener, no problems. Both had the heads milled/decks cut. Do a good visual check, cycle the motor over, if everything clears, your good to go.

Thanks guys, sounds great

Hope you have duly noted the comments about oil/cam breakin?

Yes, I´m following all of these threads with great interest.
I did lube all of the cam lobes and lifters with Comp Cams break in lube.
However I haven´t been able to find out the issue with zink in the oil,
I didn´t use synthetic oil for the break in but it wasn´t a top notch oil neither.

Had it running for 14-15 minutes, then I had to shut it down due to the heat.
Did a oil change to "76oil, 20-50w" mineral oil and had it running for a futher 20 minutes, a couple of weeks later. And that´s where I am today.
