Rota 17 RKRs

17” wheels should clear the DoctorDiff 13” Cobra kit, I had a 17” spare that cleared mine. But of course there could be a 17” rim design out there that doesn’t, but most 17” wheels should clear.

That particular wheel won’t fit though. A 17x8.5 with a -10mm offset works out to about 4.37” of backspace, you need more like 5.25” to 5.7” for the backspace to make it work with any decent width tire. So with a 17x8” or 8.5” you’d want an offset of like +19 to +25mm or so.

The other thing with 17’s is that at around 5.7” of backspace or so you run into interference between the rim and the outer tie rod end. Because of that, a 17x9” doesn’t really work well. So a 17x8” with a 255/45/17 is about the best you can do. A 17x8.5 may work, but it’s getting tight. The factory UCA shouldn’t be a big issue, that starts to come in as a clearance issue once the backspace gets to be 6” or more.

72blueNblu you're the man! Thank you so much for sharing your expertise!

So turns out they offer a 17x8.5" with +10 offset (~.4"). It rings in about 4.65” backspace and 3.85" on the outer side. I'm not trying to run tires that are too wide per say on the front, but definitely considering this option.

They pair it with a -10 offset wheel for the back which would be pretty sweet.
Quick photoshop on a duster (not mine) but looks pretty sweet. Still the tire options are more limited than the 18's...
If I just stick with the 18's out there I can run either of these Aodhan packages and get some good results.

Rear 1.2” offset (+30) 9.5” wide
4.75 half - 3.55” outside. 5.95” inside
- add .5” spacer = 4.05” outside, 5.45 inside

Front 1.4” offset (+35) 8.5” wide
4.25 half - 2.85” outside, 5.65” inside

Wheels are my favorite part of any project so it feels like I'm taking forever deciding which ones... so many options.
