Does anyone know if there's really a difference between the $6 Duplicolor & Permatex rust converter at the WalMart & the $22 stuff from Eastwood? I'm not trying to be a cheap *** but heck, if it's the same stuff why spend the extra money?

Yea, there is a difference. The stuff at Wal-Mart doesn't work and the Eastwood stuff does.

I have tired them an at best they last for a few months. I have stuff that I coated with POR15 (similar to the Eastwood material) that was rusty and coated with about 8 years ago and it still holding up with no new rust.

Ok, that sounds convincing enough to me! So can you guys answer this, I'm looking at the inside of my doors & have some surface rust on the inside. They're still really solid. What do I use when I get rid of that? Encapsulator or converter?

From what I have gathered from Eastwood's forum, you use both. First the converter, then the encapsulator.

if possible for you to do sandblast that **** away then hit it with zero rust.
