I'm remodeling a bathroom. Had to replace all the water damaged sheetrock around the tub, so I used that concrete based wallboard. I 'tape and floated' the new sections on Saturday... that was a chore. Was going to start sanding yesterday, but there were some sections that were still 'soft' because I laid the mud on a little thick (plus we've had 100% humidity down here for over a week now). So I get to do the sanding tonight, yuk!. Reminds me of doing body work... I hate it. And I can never get it to look as good as I want it.

Can't wait till I get around to the tile and wallpaper. Oh joy. :|

I feel your pain, We just did a 280 sq ft ft room (walls and ceiling).
So i know what you mean by "YEAH....I GET TO SAND DRY WALL" ! ! ! !

Just take your time, And no.....You wont get it the way you want it, I didnt anyway.

I can't remember the name of it... bucket and hose setup... the hose attaches to a sanding block with a screen... bucket has water in it... shop vac attached to bucket... pulls dust into water... works great... I got it at Home Depot...

(No drywall boogers!!!)

Got thru sanding the base coat of mud. Turns out I did a fairly good job floating it out the first time. I only had a few spots where I needed to go back and add more mud. I should be able to final sand tomorrow evening and then put a coat of primer on it. YeeHaw, bring on that tile...

Now where the heck did that booger go....

No, that's not me :pottytra:

I hate regular drywall finishing! Does the concrete based stuff take a different mud? In a bathroom you need all the protection you can get. Are you covering it with tile or is the tile somewhere else?

i get paint boogers... when i do body work.. you know how un-nerving it is to be like "hmmm, seems ive got a rock in here... HOLY ****, ITS BLUE!!!" ? then you feel retarded when you look at the car youre sanding.. oh... its blue.. then noticed the los angeles smog sized cloud of dust all around you...

i feeeelll the pain.. but hey, at least you know your nose is doing whats it supposed to :)

Nope, I used regular joint compound and fiberglass tape.

I sealed all the wallboard with two coats of Kiltz primer. Yes, I am putting 4" ceramic wall tile around the tub. I've laid many a square foot of floor tile, but this is my first tile job on a vertical surface.

I bought this cool laser cross level at Lowe's today. I guess that's one good thing about doing jobs yourself, you get to buy more tools. :D Anyway, I think it may even have useful automotive applications. With a steel ruler and some trigonometry, you could set the camber on the front wheels pretty easily. I just love dual purpose tools. :angel9:
