Well...Friday night Test n Tune has been canceled due to excessive heat....

But we can still take car out to take tonight and park them between 4 pm and 8 pm...

just got done loading my 71 Demon on the trailer...it is only 108 outside...

Actually fired the car up for the 1st time since April...it now has the E85 in the tank...fired right...and idles like a kitten....must be too rich...cause it is a holley....no wait it is a Quick fuel Technology carb....

will get the other loaded in the morning to avoid the excessive heat...probably still be over 100....

everything is fuel and ready to go...battery chargers on 2 amps.....

The 71 Dart needs an adjustment to the transbrake button...need to make adjustment to slow button down...need to get hammer and lead sinkers out to make adjustments...along with digital gram scale...

This will be the first race that we have had all 3 cars running....earlier in April we had all 3 there...but one broke a driveshaft..and the other had 3rd gear problem with the trans...and i broke out by .002 in the second round......everything is fixed and good to go....hopefully no breakouts tonight either

and if i remember i will get the video camera out .....

I hope you have a NON wrenching weekend Tony. Also it would be great to see all 3 cars in action.Good luck.:D

good ;uck tony hope you and your girls are going rounds!

A day in the life...LOL

Go this morning...get 10 gallons of e85....head over to garage to get Duster loaded on trailer...

vacuum out car...wash car......

Gotta start motorhome up to get it hook to trailer ....wont start....well..what is the easiest to do with out taking off engine cover...wonder...well..have not put gas in it awhile even thought the gauge 1/4 tank...ok..go get 5 gallons...pour in...no start...****...off come engine cover...carb is squirting gas...no spark....open hood...what is easiest to replace ecu or ballast register....ecu.......previous owner has a spare ecu and resistor in draw...ok..remove and replace ecu....which was not the easiest since battery was in way....no start...****.....take off ballast resistor....and left key on...burn my finger...

ok..replace resistor ....engine fires....well..that motorhome is going to get one of the procomp all in one distributor later this year went it cools off...no more ballast resistor...

get duster loaded...i have to wear gloves as everything you touch burns you fingers... 111 degrees out....kept soaking myself with sprayer on hose...gotta let the water run for a minute to cool it off...

ok...gotta go and load another car....113....weather man was wrong...forecast was 116 to 119

Dammit,Tony.103 in Pismo Beach. Ever a time for E85 to look good, would be now.

Last night was one of those nights went the wind did not blow at all....smoke from the burnouts just rose above the starting line and stayed there....

Hot and Sweaty night...

ok..only good thing about last night...all the cars went home with no problems..lol

71 Duster..first pass...11.74 @ 112.xx first time down track with E85...103 degrees out.....then carb problems cause car to die in water box and bog on staring line....car ran low 12 at 112.xx find that the front accelerator pump linkage has slide off pump arm...after a few minutes of messing with idle screws...adjusting floats...and adjusting idle speed ...all is well...time to dial it in....dials a 11.74...car runs 11.72 @ 112.xx.. which ties its fasts time from a month ago...and that run had a tail wind...one and done...LOL

before the 1st pass...had a problem with the rear needle and seat....piece of stuff got into it...was dribbling gas out of booster....took needle and seat out...blew a something out of it...as it hit tonya standing next to me...lol...

71 Dart....1st pass...10.80 @ 121.xx...no problems... 005 light...she said she was late on the light...

2nd pass 10.74 @ 121.xx.....light red.....we adjust the transbrake button.....trying to slow it down...

round one...dial 10.74.....spin tires and runs 10.79.... went from 1.44 60ft time to 1.47 60ft time..

71 demon....has not raced the car since middle of april...anyway...got E-85 in the tank..carb is set up just like Dart...everything sounds good...

1st pass....alot of air under front tire...car get squirrelly...grab second gear...in n out of throttle..runs 11.10 @ 118.xx...

2nd pass....come out of wheel stand...car is heading toward wall...out of gas...2nd gear in n out of gas as the car was still heading for wall....sure got the heart pumping... ran a 17 second pass...lol

1st round...i decide to foot brake it ..dial 11.08..redlight and run a 11.12...118.xx ..but car ran straight...car is 1 tenth slow to the 6 ft without brake.

after talking with a friend...i think we both agree the 2.74 1st gear has to go...E85 makes more torque..and Demon is too light for the gear set...so the spare trans that is just getting done will now be the race trans for demon...got two months to put it in...next race August 24...

plus got a choice of a new better (?) converter for use with that trans...

we haul two cars home last night a 1:30 am.... I unload Dart at my house this morning and go back to pick up Duster this morning as we could leave cars over night....another hot day in Vegas...113

Sounds like a busy saturday for Grampa.:DNeed a couple apprendices/yougin,s around to help and learn them. The heat doesn,t sound nice. Its a nice sunny 80* here, but have had lots of damp weather.Congrats on a well done weekend:toothy7:

I can't imagine trying to race 3 cars the same night. You must have 10 arms.

well...Demon is going to get a chance in the transmission ...the low gear set is being removed..and standard 2.45/1.45 is going in...actually a different trans going back in...the spare that was just rebuilt..and this one becomes the spare...lo

just a picture at the track...no action shot...
