I've now been asked a few times what the "Special" badge on my Scamp means. I've seen when buying parts they list Scamp Special vs Scamp base, but I've not been able to find online what actually differentiates the two from each other. Anyone know?

By 1976 the A body was nearing the end of the production run so to keep buyers interested they came out with a base model of the 2 door hardtop and called it a Scamp Special. Aside from trim and what came standard, there was no difference between the two models (Scamp and Scamp Special). For example, the Scamp came standard with rear ashtrays, roof drip rails, carpeting and cigarette lighter. All those options were ‘extra cost’ but available to be ordered on a Scamp Special.

Looks like the standard scamp was thoroughly broughamified compared to the special. The special reminds me of the '69 dart swinger.
