Seat Belt Question

Kinda a silly question, but on my dad's 70 Swinger with factory bucket seats, Did the front seat belts go in through the sides of the seat where the seat hinges? I ask because the interior has been messed with before and one seat has the belts running through the seat and the other side does not. Just trying to make things correct. Pic is for reference. I'm actually talking about the seat belts that mount on the trans tunnel, I couldn't find a decent picture of a seat from that angle.

I don't think so. It would have been a major time waster on the assembly line to put the belts under that trim. Also the belts would wear there and shorten the life of the webbing.

The outboard belt will not retract when it is routed under the seat trim. Then when you flip the seat forward the belt will be in the way of the persons feet getting in/out the backseat. I tried it once.

I found this picture, still can't tell if it's through the seat or beside it. I have some Bad OCD I know that much lol.

On bucket seats, the belt will always go outside the hinge. The only time it goes through the gap between the bottom and back cushions is on a bench seat or split bench.

As said above - belts NEVER run through buckets, only bench seats. The seat hinge cover would break in the event of high sudden tension on the belt.
