Ok, this thread is my first two really stupid questions:

1) When (If ever) did A bodies get integrated HVAC and lose the under-dash thing?

2) When did front 3-point belts show up, and was it the same time on all body styles?

I know most of the big changes, but the little stuff is confusing as $&^%>=$.

"I" have never seen an A body without at least the A/C vents under the dash. I think the 3 point belts were sometime in the late 60s.

They went from the 2-piece belts to integrated 3-point in...74, right?

You mean they used the under-dash setup to 76?

Factory a/c had the under dash vents. 66 and newer for sure. Chime in if earlier. Dealer installed Chrysler Airtemp or aftermarket had the shin buster unit.

Under dash ac vents were from at least 67 to 76. Heater / ac unit changed in 72 or 73 away from push button design.

Here's 2 70's. My blue one is a dealer installed Airtemp unit.

Here's a 66 with the factory installed a/c

I think it was 68 when they started the shoulder belt. It was a separate belt that could be unclipped and hung in the ceiling when not used. Most of these never got used. I believe 74 was the first year for a true shoulder belt.

Well "under dash" vents is not the same as "under dash air." The pre 67? 66? cars had a separate unit for ac under the dash. 67/ later were integrated into the heater/ ac as one unit, it's just that the DUCT and vents were under the dash

I'm sure toolmanmike is right. "Dealer" is not really the same as factory.

On a side note, my 70- 440-6 RR had an aftermarket "knee knocker" unit and I liked it better than factory--was easy to get out of the way if you needed access, and much simpler.

I think 65 was the first integrated heater/ac units in A bodies, seat belt I am not sure the first generation 3-point seat belts had the removable shoulder belt that folded up and clipped in the headliner, I would think 1970 for the seat belts.

I think 68 was the first year for the shoulder belts. I had an very early 68 barracuda that did not have them.
