Evening folks,
Planning continues for our '72 Duster project. The complete interior needs to be redone. Besides having the stock seats recovered, what other choices might I have?
Other seats from other vehicles fit with little/no hassle?
I would love to see pics if you've put in different seats.
Thanks,
Cal

I put 74 Duster seats in the 71 Demon and had them redone, and rear seat was done to match.

Keith,
That's a beautiful seat...
My stock seat is the "base" bench. Right now it looks like it's been sitting outside for the last 5 years - no vinyl and hardly any foam left! This is a project that we're just starting on - in the planning stage now.

I got my seats a while ago here www.shophyperformance.com looks like just about any medium sized bucket will fit nicely on the flat section inside the stock location. Don't forget to reinforce the new mounting hole locations if you change seats.

What tracks did you use?
Are there tracks that fit decently out there?

I used the tracks that came with the seats, was a good deal less than $400 incl shipping waited about 2 weeks to get em

Thanks fellas, I'm not looking for a racing seat. Just wondering what my options might be regarding an easy swap from another vehicle...

clhyer,
Aftermarket seats are probably the way to go. That being said, I went the other way, I put seats from a 99 dodge avenger in my 73 duster. NOT an easy task as most new cars have odd shaped floors for the 10lbs of crap in a 5lb bag scenario. I paid $65 for both seats with all the hardware from a local salvage yard. Ideal for me because I seem to have more time than money. My problem is that I thought "how hard can it be" big underestimation on my part. :cussing:
But then again I'm doing a resto-mod daily driver, the interior on mine will be far from stock when it's done. If you are not so worried about offending the purists, newer mustangs have some decent seats. I just remembered that mid 80's dodge van buckets "should" be a fairly easy swap. I was considering those before I found the avenger seats for the same price.

I have a 96 neon for a daily driver, I will be putting a pair of buckets out of the same car in my 74 Duster this summer. Nice seats actually. Should be cheap and I can't imagine it will be too hard to mount them.

If a guy got them recovered similar to the original duster buckets, they shouldn't really look out of place at all.
