just wondering, cause my numbers matching 340 has a build date of 8/29/71, and has a forged crank in it. would/could it still be a low compression engine? thanks to all for the help

low compression, is that the number cast in the side of the block or the date that is stamped under the driver side head?

Post the full set of numbers on the front of the block right below the drivers side head surface.

it is the number on the passenger side of the block, i think below the freeze plugs.

what would the point of posting the vin help?

side of the block is casting date, so it most likely was assembled 30 to 60 days later, making it a early to mid year 72 engine, 99.9% low comp.

The number I requested contains some of the actual build details.
