I don't agree in what this video maker is doing while setting float level on a Thermo-Quad. He is using his free hand to hold the float snug against the needle/seat. Not positive, but I believe he should simply let the float land on the needle/seat using its own weight. Go to minute 8:50 when he decides to "simulate gravity" using his finger.

 
I really don’t think it makes a difference, but letting the float hang isn’t any more accurate than pushing down on it because in reality is it held up by the buoyant force, proportional to the mass of gasoline the float displaces, which you can’t replicate.

This is splitting hairs. It doesn’t have to be that precise.
