setting up roller rockers

im just put new 1.6 crane gold roller rockers on my steel j heads there on hydrolic lifters any advise to tighten not to pop a piston

After your rocker has zero lash add 1/2 to 1 full turn, depending on the cam you have. Using the setting - when the intake valve opens then almost closes, set exh, and when the exh begins to open/touches set Int.

no...adjust in the same order if you are adjusting a solid lifter cam...instead of adjusting for lash...you want preload....

the extra 1/2 turn puts preload in the lifter...too much preload and the valve will not shut and the engine will not start and will not have any compression due to the valves not shutting ...

should i start with all the adjusters all upand loose

yes..all adjuster should be backed off...

The method TributeSS/A68 suggested works good for me.
