Hey guys,

Im looking at some scattershields and obviously the non SFI ones are cheaper. my question is at what et does the track (nhra rulebook i guess) require that a manual transmission car have an sfi approved scattershield? also, how many years does SFI ratings last and can they be recertified or do you need a new peice afterwards? I plan on drag racing my car, so a bellhousing is a must, but the car probably wont see anything faster than mid 12's for atleast a few years, so this would be helpful to me.

thanks guys
Matthew

The '09 rule book reads "cars running 11.49 or quicker must be equipped with an SFI 6.1,6.2,6.3,or 9.1 flywheel shield"...

ok okay cool....does the rating have to be reapproved every few years?

IT depends on which SFI rating the scattershield is as to when it needs to be reinspected the years go from 1 to 5....

oh ic...well i wont be running 11.49 or quicker so i guess im okay with non sfi for now...thanks for the info =)
