Anyone ship a block/engine or have one shipped to them? What's involved? Anyone have any suggestions about cost? Possibly may look into something that's several hours from me, would be easier to ship. I might then put one of my spares up for sale.

Any suggestions/info is appreciated.

I had one shipped freight from atlanta to New Mexico and it was just strapped to a pallet and shrink wrapped. I believe it was less than 175.00.If I shipped one I would try to put it in a shipping container or use some foam to prevent damage.

I had one shipped to me. The guy had just got a crate engine from MP and shipped me his old LA engine in the same crate he had the MP shipped to him. It was on a two piece stand that bolted to the front mounts and rear ears. That stand was then bolted to the bottom of a large, heavy duty blue plastic tub with a top that was bolted to the bottom. The whole deal was then strapped to a pallet. It was shipped by "Old Dominion Freight" and I picked it up at the shipping yard. IIRC, it was about $150 to ship.

Got a motor from Ray Barton via Yellow Freight--cost about 200 bucks. they just palleted it & shipped it. I suggest yoou go to the depot & pick it up otherwise they may charge extra for "home delivery" & if there's any issues the things already there to ship back if necessary.

We always use Estes Freight when we ship engines and transmissions. Fairly reasonable.

I have a friend that drives from central PA to LI fairly often in an empty cargo van, he would probably haul whatever you wanted hauled. He used to live there and goes to visit his friends.

I also use Forward Air Cargo. I build a crate around them and attach it to a std size pallet. I've shipped accross country and the crate got destroyed, but the engine was fine. Prices change all the time. I ship furniture as part of my job and you can never tell what its going top be.
