Will the short console pistol grip work in a 72 duster with the bench seat or will there be a clearance issue in 2nd and 4th gears? I believe I should probaly use the non-console shifter but really like the short shifter. Any help with the pistiol grip shifter that would work best in this car is appreciated.

The pistol grip that came in the E bodies and consold 71-up b bodies is too short for most people. The 71-up b body non console shifter is a little taller and actually works pretty well.

I have a short pistol grip in my 71 Duster (pictured below) and one in the 72 Duster I ownes a few years ago and not being a tall person they both work fine. I do have to add I did not have a console or bench seat so I would have to say it would be close...

I`ve read in MM magazine, that the B body, without console would work, so I bought one. It may depend on what shifter you have also. I have a hurst comp. plus, with 69 340. the shifter emerges toward back and right of hole not center. BUT! the shifter hit my seat, I did`nt like that, so, determined, I welded the mounting portion of an old shifter to give the clearance I needed. I`m doing a clutch right now and its out. And I`m thinking of going back to my old shifter. I`ll knock $40 bux off what I paid for it if your interested. only a year old, good shape.
