Hears mine! Just rebuilt original engine. .030 over .095 off the head slight ported and mild cam. Still running stock 1bbl carb, modified oil pan. 1st slant 6 rebuild which came out nice. Wanted to do something different which i had a 5.2 magnum and 5spd ready to go but since it had the original 225 engine i said what the hell lets build it.

My pretty much stone stock slant in a 76 Scamp...only mod so far is the TTI Exhaust kit which I did because I cut the old exhaust out when doing suspension, disc swap, and rear end change recently. Figuring on just driving it this summer and then having the engine be a project for next winter.

That 265 Hemi will be a beast!
It was my daily for about 8 years, now just a weekend car as my wife got sick of aussie summers with no A/C.
It runs quite well and surprises a lot of people.
I finally got it on the Dyno after about 7 years of abuse and it still managed 240hp at the wheels.
Has been freshened up since then and a better ignition curve so may be pushing a few more hp now.

Did yall figure out anything on the compression? Or lack thereof?

Nope. The engine's coming out anyway for the rear seal leak, I'll check the cam timing at that point. Otherwise I'm out of ideas. More to follow in that thread so I don't hijack this one.

I built one for my truck simply because I miss the distinctive sound of an old inline 6, (especially the/6) which is rarely heard anymore.

I now have a 63 Belvedere LA 318 auto.
Future plans are to do up a Slant for it. I got all the parts.Even B body Hooker Slant headers.
We will see as I just got it driveable. On the way to MATS tomorrow for it's virgin outing.

Sounds like a great combo! I have a 265 sitting under my work bench and have longed build it like yours and put it in something from the US. I'm getting a bit old for that work these days, but never say never.

A update on mine, it has a stock rotating assembly (crank, pistons, rods) Milled head (.125), cam (Have to check specs), 340 valve springs. Homemade two barrel intake from a stock one barrel intake. Holley 500 cfm 2 bbl carb, lean burn fixed distributer, MSD-6, Aussie Speed headers, Moroso style electric fan/water pump drive. Nippendenso 90 amp alternator, with a WOT field cutout. Twin inline EFI fuel pumps, return flow regulator, feeding two (one for carb, one for NOS) holley "dead head" regulators. Fogger/ fuel system are the most expensive parts on the car. I spray anywhere from 150-225 shot. Trans is a 904 with a manual VB and a 9 1/2" custom (fits early engine and late trans) Edge converter. Stalls 3000-3200 WOT against brakes. No idea what the stall is on the N2O hit, but it works. will do 1.79 60 foot times. Rear is a "A" body 8 3/4 with 3.91 spool.
EDIT: Cam is a Racer Brown SS-14 adv dur 268, lift .450 lobe sep 112

So beings that Slant 6s rarely get appreciated enough to build. How about a thread for guys to just show off their cool Slant builds?
I've posted these photos before - sorry if you've already seen them. My '74 Duster. Not built, just stock - thanks.

This will be going in my 47 Dodge sedan.. i now have ram tubes for the Webers or can swap to 3 air cleaners.

EDIT: not that it matters, it’s been overbored 30 thou, block decked 90 thou, head cut 10 thou with 1.70/1.40 engnblder stainless valves with mild headwork and will be running a double roller timing set. Crank is still std/Std. Headers are designed for a truck using a low mount starter in the LA transmission and feature 2 into 1 design

Very good looking. I've always wanted to tinker with those carbs!

That would be a cool project, these engines respond very well to a little work. Headers that will fit in a US body would probably be your biggest hurdle. Some had dual outlet manifolds from factory which would help but are still quite restrictive.

What trans bellhousing pattern do the 265s have?
Wonder about adaptation to a 80s D150?

I was looking to put it in my 84 Stepside Pickup, so exhaust options would be easier. I found that the 265 will bolt up (without mods) to a small block 904. Looks that I would need to supply an easy to fab block-off plate. I figured that I would get pretty good crowds at car shows.

They came with locally sourced Borg Warner gearboxes, the pattern is different to the small blocks (top 3 bolts are the same, the lowers are off) I had the smallblock 904 bellhousing modified to bolt it up & the starter moved to the stock 265 position instead of down low for the smallblock.

There are only a handfull of blocks that will bolt directly to the sb torqueflite - these will have D36 or D37 stamped on the distributor pad. Some blocks have the extra material cast in at the rear but are not drilled for the torqueflite pattern.
I believe there is also an adaptor plate available for the swap.

OK, the "Killer6" v1.0, circa '87...Crane 280°/.440", iron Super6 w/318 BBD, stock valves, DC 6-1 header.....

Guess I'll add this version ran a 17.0@78mph w/3.55's..

Cool stuff fellers. Great to see all the slant sixes.

I figure if it don't go, chrome it!

It's nowhere near as fast as some of the combos above, but it is faster than it was stock. 63 Valiant convertible, 65 slant six block (original was cracked) bored .030, 63 head stock except milled .100 and 340 springs, Comp 252 cam, 210 duration at .050, .430 lift, Offy four barrel intake, factory 62 318 poly four barrel carb, electronic ignition, 2.25 inch Accurate exhaust, original Torqueflite with stock converter, 2.94 rear gears. Will cruise all day at 80 mph, quarter mile low 17s at a bit over 80.

Note: have changed battery, ignition box and voltage regulator since these pix were taken.

Here is the 170 I built for my Lancer wagon a few years ago.
Original Hyper Pak intake and exhaust manifolds.
