Slant 6 plugs sold as a set of 8??

haha... So for YEARS, like 3 decades worth of years, I have had a set of NOS MoPar spark plugs in the bottom of my tool box. Never really paid any attention to them, other than to know they are not the set I have for a 383. So today, I got them out to put in a 318, and only after I opened them all, did it dawn on me they are for a slant 6.

Why in the world did they sell sets of 8, if they are for a slant 6?

Plugs were packaged in boxes of eight. Most manufactures now package them in boxes of four as Kim said but NGK has some numbers in boxes of ten. You can buy as many or as few as you want. I worked for NAPA for 46 years and we always sold whatever quantity the customer wanted. Bobby
 
They've also sold in packs of six since the caveman days. They sold those in an 8 pack, because they are the same for a V8 somewhere down the line.
 
Small blocks and drool tube/6s took the same plugs back then
