Slant 6 starter

Would a starter off of a late 90s Dodge truck, such as a 5.2 or 5.9 work as a mini starter on a slant 6 with a 904 like it would on a LA, or will it not bolt up the same way? Just curious, as I have a starter off of a 95 318 Ram that worked well on my 73 318.

It should work on everything from a hemi to a slant.

I went the other way when I swapped from a \6 to the 360 and used the starter from the \6 on the 360 motor.

i always use big block starter's on every thing /6's small blocks an a 900 cca battery (hate starter problems )

This is news to me (not surprised)... so a starter for pretty much any 5.2 or 5.9 will work on earlier LA engines? That would be so much better to replace than a big heavy starter. Jeep Cherokees work too?? Are there any mods that need to be done?
