I need headers for a 1965 225 slant six. It seems the internet only sells them for 1967+. Please help, my son and I are building this as his first car.

The only readily available slant headers (6 into one and 6 into 2 IIRC) are for the 67-up chassis and will not fit the early A's without a bunch of mods. Clifford sells the shortie headers (Clifford has a lot of bad reviews both here and at slant6.org - buyer beware!). They might or might not be in stock.

If your 65 has manual steering and is a 225, those shorties will fit. If you have PS, the only ones that will fit are the long discontinued long tubes. There's an outfit in OZ that is making the long tubes that fit with PS. If your 65 is a 170, then the shorties will not fit without mods. Headers show up both here and over at slant6.org on occasion but are snapped up quick.

Have you considered Dutra Duals? The scoop on them is available over at .org. Good luck in your search

I will also add the comment - is there a reason why you need headers? Unless you are doing other mods such as cam, decking the head/cutting the head for more compression, 4 barrel, etc, headers don't make a lot of sense. Was just wondering.

Side question, who has them readily available for 67+?

Summit has Hooker Super Comps for the 67-up A Body chassis with a slant for $530 something $800 something for ceramic coated. Don't know if in stock or not.

I have had all of the above done to the engine.

It is a 225 with PS.

. It should be a nice upgrade compared to a stock slant.

The 225 slant going in my wagon has been decked 90 thou, head cut 10 thou, over bored 30 thou, 1.70/1.40 oversized stainless valves installed, mild port and polish, a stout cam installed which will work very well with the 4 speed, windage tray installed and of course a set of Clifford long tubes I found on eBay at a great price. This should give a CR of around 10 to 1 with a dynamic CR of 8 to 1, enabling it to run on pump gas. The seller knew they were for a slant but couldn't figure out the application (didn't fit anything he had so gave up on them). I knew as I had a set in the mid 80's and being stupid, sold them later on. Here is mine: I was mocking up a Dutra Hyperpak to see if a Sanden AC compressor would fit (it does!). You can see how the front 3 will route basically straight down in front of the PS box and actually passes through the front of and under the K Frane. The PS box takes up a lot of real estate down there.

Maybe Looks like your best option is the headers from Australia. The exchange rate is pretty good- for us lol! Another option might be to buy the exhaust flanges I see on eBay and fabricate a set that will fit with PS.

these fit 225, 198 and 170 with power steering air conditioning or any accessory you can toss under the hood, MeMike had a pair on Victoria and KrazyKuda has a pair on his 65 dart wagon. exhaust shop didn't have any problem making up a system for me, still retains the choke housing and with a little tin work you could feed hot air to the bottom of the intake....and easy to change starter motor and no ground clearance issues for a bonus
