I took a video of my 74’ Plymouth Duster Slant Six and really liked the bit of rumble it had! I also wanted to know what mufflers you guys recommend to make my car a bit louder! I was thinking a Flowmaster Super 10 but I can’t find any videos of a /6 with one!

A slant would sound like total *** with a super 10. But then, so does everything.

Hard to make a stock slant six not sound like a motorboat with too much muffler. If your going through the trouble, put a Dutra manifold setup on it and run 2-1/4 duals back through a dynomax X flow muffler. I always used the thrush turbo parts store generic mufflers, \6 isn't too annoying with them.

To sound good, a slanty's gotta have lots of compression,a stock cam,and a real slow shaking-the-hood idle, like 450; thoop-thoop-thoop-thoop-thoop-thoop........ Problem is, the even firing has no character.It's just thoop-thoop-thoop-thoop-thoop-thoop, all the live-long day. So run dual exhausts;three cylinders down each side, but mix a couple of them up. So you get, on one side;
thoop,-------,-------,thoop-thoop-------; and on the other side,
------,thoop-thoop,--------,-------thoop
Next install two different sounding mufflers.
thoop,--------,--------,thoop-thoop,------- on the one side;and on the other
-------whaapa-whaapa,------,-------whappa
Now you got a rumble.Just don't stand in the middle between the exits, cuz
thoop-whaapa-whaappa-thoop-thoop whaapa-thoop;
will drive you crazy.

DAING! You've put some serious thought into that... and I thought cabin fever was bad here right now!

The one I really would have liked to have heard was OneBadColt's namesake, he had a non magnum 3.9 odd-fire V6 with all the MP goodies in it.

Slants weren't built to rumble. Don't waste time tryin to make one sounds like a V8. If you want a V8, get one. To me, a good hot slant sounds like a heard of pissed off killer bees. I kinda like that sound.

I built the thoop-thooper, when I was very young, But didn't have the cash or savvy to build the special header it would have taken. Then I got a job and graduated to a 340. The I got married..............

I'd rather listen to this then a /6 with a exhaust like you want!

For years I’ve been running on mine Hooker headers w/ long 1 7/8” primaries, 3 into 1. Out of the collectors aluminized 2 1/4” pipe w/ H-pipe back to a pair of 26” glasspack mufflers. Then around each side of the tank out to bright tips. I’ve had friends and guys at the cruises listen to it, they tell me they like the way it sounds. Thanks, Al

Yall are postin some sissy soundin slants. Lemmie help yall out with that.

ive ran a slant 6 with a flowmaster 10, sounded REALLY good, I was running 2 1\2 pipe in and out, stock manifold , ended up taking it off to use on my truck haha

Here's mine...225, offy intake with 500cfm eddy, unknown cam, clifford 3 into 1's, dual 2-1/4's (I think) out to the back with flowbastards.

Sounds great at idle, but like Rusty says, at speed it sounds like pissed off killer bees of which I DO NOT like.

sounds ok, I like the stock manifold, I ended up rebuilding my exhaust to a 2 1\4 inch because of ground clearance, 2 1\2 was real tight over the rear end, idk how some people get away with 3 inch without raking up the back of the abodies, I have a 40 serious on it and I love the note, sounds great

I may just get a stock-ish pipe/muffler setup and go back to a single exhaust. Me thinks she might breath a little too freely
