What is required when the shop balances my steel crank 340 engine? balancer, stock flex plate? He asked me if I was running a torque converter with weight & I know steel cranks don't use a weight on the converter. Thanks in advance

Internally balanced just needs the crank.

Rods/pistons/pins/rings/bearings to set up bobweight

Thats what I figured. His book for his balance machine doesn't give him these specs for some reason. Thanks!

Sometimes shops I deal with want it all. Balancer, flex plate and converter.
Ask the shop what they want for what level of balancing job they'll perform.

Why go to all that expense and take a chance the balancer, torque converter, flex plate/ flywheel, pressure plate is out of balance. I am always amazed how everything is off, and by how much. And how smooth everything runs when done right...
