Anyone run this cam in either a 340 or 360? What was it like? Did it have crisp throttle response? Low end OK? Drivable on the street? Has 276 degrees of duration and is based on a 112 LSA. Thanks for any input.

Got one in a 340 and I like it. Runs OK down low then comes on like crazy at about 2800. Pulls til it hits the MSD pill at 6400. I bet it could turn more, but 6400 is enough. Idles pretty choppy at 850-950. You'll need a converter with it if an auto car.

It's a total dog down low (below 2500) with the 3.23 gears, 26" tire in my car. Barely turns the tire from a 5 MPH roll, which I don't mind because it's moving and not burning. With more gear 3.73 or more is a different story.

IIRC it's about 242-244 at .050 Mine is installed at 107 ICL

Thanks for the reply. Was planning on a converter, not sure which. I have 4.10 gears and likely a 27" tire but may end up with 26".

Seems like it really does work in stock stroke, small block applications. On paper it always seems to make the best power.

Also, I was incorrect - it has 284 degrees of duration which = 241 @ .050.

I think the mp 528 cam is one of the best mp cams there is. It does tend to need a looser than stock tq converter..

I run a .528, have been for yrs.

get a 2800 stall convertor if auto

3.73 gear minimum, though I've used 3.23 with it...it's a lil soggy, 3.55 would be just as soggy.

It likes the ld340 intake A LOTand still revs to 6800 with it.
I've buzzed this cam with 2* advance [110cl] to 7400 rpm
with 5 1/2* advance and a single plane/750 it revs to 6600-6800 rpm still.

in my 4spd car, which never see's under 2200-2400 rpm, it runs great.

it has a pretty broad power band/torque curve as well.
Right now it's setup for 5 1/2* advance and has the ld340 back on it, it should be real snappy!

glad you dig the cam crackedback, I thought you would.

I still have 2 more! he he

I have this cam on my 318 with 3.15 gears and 4 speed. With a 340 or 360 and high gears it would be way better, but it's a good cam for a hot street car in my opinion.

My car idles well at 750 rpm, it's a little lazy below 2500 rpm but then pushes really hard to 6500+ rpm.

That is the cam I had in my 9 to1 .030 over 340 that ran deep into the elevens. EXCELLENT street manners with 10" 3500 convertor. It has 60 degrees of over lap. The 284/.528 mechanical was wonderful. I know it is called a dynasour..and maybe it is but still one of the best street/strip cams available from anyone. Very tractable for everyday driving and sounds great too. Excellent choice for a street/strip driver. If you have one go ahead and use it. I used Harlin Sharp rockers, 1.65 ratio (custom order) and that gave me .538 lift @ the valve with lash as installed. With 1.5 rockers and .026 lash you will have an installed lift with lash of .487 at the valve..not enough in my opinion . If your heads flow past that valve lift value, you will not be using all of your heads. You will be leaving horsepower on the table.
