Am I just getting old, or did I see some time ago where someone posted that you could use a later starter from a Dakota on a smallblock and that it had higher torque? My old starter on the 360 is getting tired and if I can make an improvement without the cost of a mini-starter (which I don't really need) I would like to do it since I'm going to buy a starter anyway. Thanks, Dave.

The Dakota Starter is the same as the Mopar Perf. mini starter. Bolts right in.

Yep, im running a freebie mini-starter a friend pulled off a 5.2 dakota. kicks over nicely, takes less power as well

Any ram, dakota, or B van with a Magnum V-6 or 8. All the same starter. You can get them at a recycler/junk yard too for short money.

I used one from a 1998 5.2 Dakota, works great. Its mounted on a hp 360. I also used a rebuilt one on my 440 Super Street Duster. No problems.

Are these off any Magnum motors? Or just Dakotas and Rams?

Uh, what else would use the Magnum 5.2/ 5.8 engine?

I took mine off of my '88 van with a 360, so they are on the pre-magnum motors also.
Yea, I think 1988 was the first year that Mopar started using them.
